Julia Walsh

Julia Walsh is a community organizer and political strategist who has worked on progressive issues and campaigns for twenty years. Julia is the co-founder and director of We Stand United, a new organization that works to unite the power of popular culture with grassroots organizing to advance social change. In 2010, she started Frack Action in response to the immediate threat that fracking posed to New York State. This organization played a pivotal role in New York State’s 2015 ban on fracking and assisted in successfully banning fracking in both Ireland and Maryland. Prior to starting Frack Action, Julia served as an elected official on the Village Board of New Paltz, New York where she was instrumental in passing environmental legislation and organizing New Paltz’s high-profile samesex marriages that earned national media attention. For over a decade, Julia was an NGO Representative to the United Nations advocating on behalf of children’s rights, indigenous rights and environmental organizations.
